The Palace of Pushkin

Part of the northside of the Pushkin Palace and what was referred as the carriage courtyard  Completed in 1756 it is almost 1 kilometer in circumference with its blue and white facades with gilded atlantes
It took over 220 pounds (100 kg)  of gold to decorate the palace exteriors
The interiors were designed by Rastrell

The Great Hall is almost 10,00 square feet (1000 square meters) and to raise funds to restore the palace to its former glory........ it has leased it out to high profile events like concerts for Elton John,  Sting and Whitney Houston
Part of the exterior and its amazing detail
The ballroom or the Hall of Lights
Part of the Amber Room that was recreated in 2003 after it was lost during Word War 11 through looting . Back when originally constructed in the 18th century with gold leaf and mirrors it was considered to be the 'Eighth Wonder of the World'
The Palace was a summer residence of the Russian Tsars
Prior to the war,  Soviet archivists thankfully documented most of the interior as the retreating German forces destroyed much of the residence....... but as you can see it has been brought back for all of us to marvel at its grandeur
