Terry Travels B&W Photos #3

#Terry_Travels_BWPhotos3

 Sorrento Italy
FINALLY a motorcycle with a headlight on, to get the effect i wanted for this photo
If your wondering; a low beam shines 30-90 meters (100 to 300 feet)......so yes, take the picture
and then get the heck off the road 😆

 London England
Wall of Medieval Armor
When i did the research, it was believed to have been used by 5,000 -10,000 Knights
which would of been approximately 6% of the population
The rest were
12% landowners, 40% farmers / craftsmen (with obligations to the landlords)
32% serfs and 10% were slaves

Porto Portugal
Did you know;
Port Wine has a higher alcohol content caused by the addition of distilled grape spirits
that fortify the wine
Then they halt fermentation before all the sugar is converted to alcohol,
which results in 20% of alcohol per bottle

  Bermuda
Ninety Forts plus Fortifications on this tiny island
Why so many you ask; it was after the American War of Independence and Britain was protecting itself against possible attacks

 Boston Waterfront
Which is now over 70kms (43 miles) of piers, beaches, wharves, parks and shorelines
Most of this area was made by filling in the tidal flats with dirt, rocks, bottles and even shoe leather

I am here to visit the site of the Tea Party
which was a pivotal event leading to the American Revolution

 Eastern Europe
Found this great piece of architecture, which i learn was influenced by religion
The structures became symbols of a national resistance and identity during the Communist Rule

 Valencia
Was briefly the capital of Spain  during the Civil War (1936-1937)
as i explore some of the reinforced buildings

Madrid
Atocha Station Tropical Gardens
Used an abandoned train terminal, which was transformed into this paradise of 7,000 plants

Crete Greece
On my way to the Icaria Sea named after Icarus
whose wax wings melted in the sun

New York Harbor
As i sail into the area that Italian explorer Giovanni da Verrazzano first discovered in 1524
By 1840 more people plus goods passed through here more than all other US ports combined, which today its the third largest in volume for container traffic
All this tells me to obey the rules of seafarers under International Maritime Law,
 as its a busy waterway

England
Managed to see one performance in London during
its nine year run (2008-2017)

Volga River
As i travel down one part of its 3700 kms (2300 miles) i am told by the locals that 60% of its water comes from the melting snow in the area

Charcoal Drawing
Cloudy dark day in Toledo Spain, so my artwork reflects the mood of the afternoon

Thessaloniki Greece
Useless information jajajjaja;
This shape of the lampshade was to widen the light over a larger area and why you generally see the shades colored green, it was believed to be easier on the eyes
plus have a calming psychological effect

Slovakia
Looking for the "engraved guestbooks"
It was an old tradition here with these early huts
The guests would carve their names or messages directly onto the wooden walls or beams
