Nassau Bahamas

Nassau is located on the island of New Providence and is the capital of the Bahamas with a population of over 200,000 people
Fort Charlotte built in 1789
Sitting in Fort Lauderdale Florida and having a upcoming free day, i looked over my options and what really struck me was how cheap the flights to Nassau and airtime was (1 hour).......so whats a guy to do but go! (lol)  Now usually before i head to any destination i would do some research but time wasn't on my side, so the next best thing is to take the local taxi and talk to these drivers as they are the pulse of the area and
they will fill you in. Without asking i knew i was going to avoid Paradise Island, (its too plastic for me) plus main street which caters to all the tourists (ie; Straw Market) via the cruise ships and my driver agreed, then he suggested taking the local bus and see the "real" Nassau.....he was right!
Yes.......trying some samples lol

Back in the day the Bahamas was a haven for Pirates which added to the local history .....but when the  British made the islands a colony,  it clamped down on piracy

Did you know there are 700 islands that make up the country of the Bahamas.......some are inhabited all the way up to Nassau which is resort-packed
