Corfu Greece & its Old Fortress

The Old Fortress is around $5.00 Euro entrance fee & well worth the money as you have access to most of structures..... so you can soak in all the history that occurred here 

 

Its an UNESCO World Heritage Site & give yourself 2 to 3 hours to walk around all areas

Corfu had a strategic & commercial importance during the Venetian timeframe (1386-1797) so for this reason they modernized the Old Fortress to repel the attacks of the Ottomans

During the period of British Rule (1814-1864) more construction took place here

The Fortress was built on a rocky peninsula to protect Corfu from any enemies approaching on the Ionian Sea
